Accelerated MBA FAQ

How is the AMBA different from other programs?

The Accelerated MBA Program is a lockstep cohort program that includes text books, parking, and additional services. Students attend classes full-time during the day and complete the program in one year. The intensive format emphasizes team work and networking. The program is offered over five sessions where students complete between two and four classes.

What is the AMBA Program?

When will this program begin?

New cohorts of AMBA students begin each Fall.

Where are the classes held?

All classes are scheduled on the CSULB campus.

When are the classes held?

There are five sessions with breaks of one to three weeks scheduled between sessions.

Do you require work experience?

We look for candidates that demonstrate both leadership and academic potential. Many of the students in past AMBA cohorts joined the program right after they finished their undergraduate degree. While some of past applicants do have some work experience, at an average age of 26, many of the applicants have completed internships only, which is a reasonable substitute.

Who teaches the MBA courses?

The same high-quality faculty who teach in our regular evening MBA program.

When will I graduate?

The A-MBA program takes 12 months to complete.

Is my AMBA degree is real MBA?

Yes. The Accelerated MBA is just our way of describing the unique package of courses and services. All MBA degrees at California State University Long Beach are fully accredited by AACSB International.

How many units do I have to take?

Like our regular MBA Program, each AMBA Program cohort requires only 48 units to complete.

Are there areas of specialization available in the AMBA Program?

No. The AMBA Program is designed as a general MBA in order to give the cohort the more desired broad-based curriculum.

What about courses I've already taken at CSULB?

If the courses are ones that are requirements for the AMBA Program then they will, of course, count towards your degree.

When is the admissions deadline?

All AMBA cohorts have a May 1st application deadline for admission.

What if the Program fills up?

Applications for each AMBA cohort will be logged on a first-come, first-served basis. We always encourage early application to each cohort. We will maintain a waiting list for the next cohort. All AMBA cohorts have a Fall Semester start date.

Will AMBA Applicants be interviewed?

Yes whenever possible. Contact us to set up an appointment with a member of our staff.

What is my Cost?

The complete 48 unit AMBA program costs $40,800 for the current cohort. This includes text books, materials, and additional student services. (Prices valid for the Fall 2012 cohort and are subject to change.)
