Dean’s Update, December 19, 2012
Ron Shiffler, our AACSB re-accreditation team chair, visited campus on Thursday, December 13, and gave us lots of good suggestions and comments about the state of our MAC preparation and the report we will have to prepare for the team.
As a reminder, our Maintenance of Accreditation (MAC) visit will take place February 16-18, 2014 and our Peer Review Team (PRT) will include Ronald E. Shiffler, Dean, McColl School of Business, Queens University of Charlotte; Norman S. Wright, Dean, Woodbury School of Business, Utah Valley University; and Patrick Shannon, Dean, College of Business and Economics, Boise State University.
The first hour of Ron’s visit was spent with the Strategic Planning and Assessment Committee (SPAC), and this committee updated Ron on progress the CBA has made on the strategic initiatives imbedded in the CBA strategic plan.
The next hour was spent with the Intellectual Contributions Task Force (ICTF), and they discussed our journal ranking process with Ron, as well as discussing our AQ policy. Ron was pleased with our efforts here.
Next, the department chairs spent an hour with Ron and the discussion centered mainly on the lecturer hiring process and our Participating/Supporting faculty policy.
After lunch with the Provost in the Chartroom, Robert Chi, Stephenie Canavan, and I met with Ron to discuss our document library; he was very impressed with Stephenie’s complete, in-depth approach to documenting our strategic planning, faculty qualifications, and assessment efforts. The last hour of our time with Ron was spent discussing the report that the CBA must prepare and distribute to the Peer Review Team, and he gave us excellent advice and ideas.
I would like to thank all of the CBA faculty and staff members who participated in Ron’s visit: Omer Benli, Stephenie Canavan, Hongyu Chen, Robert Chi, Lin Cummings, Steve Fisher, Howard Fletcher, Pia Gupta, Herb Hunt, Steven Le, Sophie Lee, Ping Lin, Ingrid Martin, Dana McDaniel, Risto Moisio, Judy Strauss, and Judy Yin. Thanks also to Ali Chu, Jeanine Pociask, and Margaret Williams for arranging the logistics of Ron’s visit.
Robert Chi has compiled a lot of information about the status of our accreditation efforts, and there will be continued updates throughout the 2012-2013 academic year. Ron was impressed with the webpage and its contents, and I suggest that you spend some time reviewing this web page.
