Dean’s Update, March 29, 2012

AACSB Assessment Workshop

On March 9, Robert Chi led a workshop in the Barrett Conference Center (formerly the Pyramid Annex) to update faculty about AACSB Assurance of Learning standards and procedures.  The assessment workshop was a big success with 38 faculty and staff members attending to share experiences and learn from each other. All PowerPoint presentation materials are posted on the CBA AACSB web site for your reference.

In January, Robert Chi and Stephenie Canavan attended two two-day AACSB workshops at CSU Fullerton (Assessment Seminar and Business Accreditation Seminar) that featured assessment expert Kathryn Martell. This allowed the March 9 CBA Assessment Workshop to provide up-to-date information about AACSB standards.

At the end of the workshop, participating faculty were ask to provide feedback on a variety of issues, and twenty questionnaires were collected with the results are shown below.

Survey comments:  1. A critical thinking assessment workshop is a great idea. 2.  Session was primarily informational, but the majority of the audience was already familiar with the info.  If we must have such sessions, allow breakouts to specifically complete actual assessment tasks.
