International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition Geared Up for 49th Time
The CBA is delighted that once again we will be the hosts of the International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition, now in its 49th year! The ICBSC, which will take place over a period of twelve weeks, includes a remote phase that has just started and an intensive on-site phase that will occur over the days of April 18-20 when the teams and their advisors will come to California. This year, because of the number of teams, all of the on-site activities have been moved off campus to the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Anaheim Resort and Convention Center Hotel.
During the fall, our Administrative Director for the competition, Annette Lohman, engaged in a strong marketing campaign that produced 29 teams with eight schools registering for the first time. For the first time, the ICBSC will have a team from China. We will also have two teams from Canada and one team from the United Kingdom. See the list below for the full list of participants.
Because of Annette’s tireless efforts, the ICBSC has become almost entirely self-financed. Efforts this summer and fall by Annette and several of the competition’s judges produced a number of corporate and individual donations. In addition, Annette developed a partnership with the Department of Recreation and Leisure Services. The partnership produced an internship position that will allow us to replace a previously paid graduate assistant with an intern who will work with Annette on all of the administrative details that go into such a large event.
These efforts, along with increasing team registration fees, produced the financial resources that are allowing us to continue to host this prestigious competition. Thanks also to Annette for arranging the DoubleTree facilities to be the home for the on-site portion of the ICBSC. She is doing a wonderful job planning, organizing, and managing the ICBSC.
Competing this year are the following 29 teams.
