Bob Cole Conservatory of Music

The Beach Café Goes Broadway

Join the Chamber Choir, University Choir, live band and performers from both the Bob Cole Conservatory and from the Department of Theatre Arts for a 90-minute show featuring beloved music from the Broadway tradition. With numbers from West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Les Miserables and Hamilton, we expect this high-energy evening to sell out quickly. The Bob Cole Conservatory is thrilled to welcome Joanne Gordon, former chair of the Theatre Arts department, to direct. Conducted by Jonathan Talberg, with additional musical direction by Jarod Sheahan and Josh Palkki.

The Symphony Orchestra begins the semester with a blockbuster concert featuring Gershwin’s An American in Paris, Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor, and Respighi’s Pines of Rome. The evening will be conducted by Cole Conservatory Director Johannes Müller-Stosch, and will showcase Jisun Jung, the winner of the 2017-18 Cole Conservatory Instrumental Concerto Competition, as the soloist in the concerto.

James Garner's Tribute to Johnny Cash celebrates the life and music of the legendary 'Man in Black' with strong conviction and stunning accuracy. Marking the 50th anniversary of Johnny Cash's famous concert for the inmates of Folsom Prison, Garner and his band recreate Cash's biggest hits, weaving in historical accounts and personal tales of America’s most beloved singer storyteller.

Experience the acoustic capabilities of the Great Hall like never before when the University and Chamber Choirs from CSULB’s Bob Cole Conservatory of Music present “Sea Change: Choral Music about Water" at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Featuring 100 singers and various instrumentalists, the Choirs will perform a program of water-themed music with the Aquarium's Honda Blue Cavern exhibit as the backdrop.
