Engineering Doctoral Studies

The College of Engineering jointly offers a Ph.D. degree in Engineering and Computational Mathematics with Claremont Graduate University. The program of study for each Ph.D. candidate is carefully integrated to ensure the interdisciplinary nature of each student’s research. The CSULB College of Engineering oversees the engineering portion of the program and Claremont’s Department of Mathematics has primary responsibility for the computational mathematics portion.

About the Program

The Joint Doctoral Program was created in 1987 to combine the computational mathematics field with one or more branches of engineering at both the academic and research levels. It draws upon the synergistic expertise of research faculty at both institutions to integrate advanced techniques of mathematical analysis with advanced engineering coursework and research. Its first degree was awarded in 1995.
