$1.5-Million Grant to Fund AANAPI Student Success

Three College of Engineering faculty have been awarded a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education to provide support to Asian-American and Native-American Pacific Islander students. The five-year grant, under the ASCEND: AANAPI Student Success Center & Development program, is expected to benefit about 2,200 AANAPI students in STEM.

Industry Leaders Join Advisory Council

Three new industry leaders have joined the College of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council, expanding further into the automotive, construction, and power sectors.

CSULB Teams Place in NASA Robotics Competition

Middle-school students had a chance to see their code evaluated on the International Space Station as part of the first year of the Zero Robotics competition at CSULB.

COE Adds Six New Tenure-Track Faculty

The CSULB College of Engineering this fall welcomes six new tenure-track faculty, expanding teaching and research expertise into new technology areas. The new faculty include: Dr. Muhammad Abdul Basit Ur Rahim, Assistant Professor, Computer Engineering and Computer Science Department 

BESST Program Kicks Off Ninth Year

Northrop Grumman Vice President Candace Givens’ career has taken many twists and turns. The Carson native headed to Hampton University at age 16 to study electrical engineering. She applied for a job as an administrative assistant and got hired as a design engineer, with the rest of her tuition paid.

State Grant to Fund ZEV Training Program

The CSULB College of Engineering has received a $500,000 grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) to offer courses to train qualified engineers and technicians for the zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) industry.

2022 Commencement

Commencement Speaker Erik Takayesu asked the College of Engineering's more than 1,200 graduates to imagine a life without engineers. “Well, I see absolutely nothing," he said. "Without engineers, the world would be a very scary place."

2022 BME Awards

The CSULB Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) celebrated the graduation of more than 40 students with a design expo and awards ceremony. Since being established in 2017 with 80 undergraduate students, the department has more than quadrupled in size.
