Deadlines

The semester prior to student teaching, students must obtain a student teaching application from the SSCP website and submit it by the appropriate deadline.

Fall Semester Student Teaching - Application DUE March 1

Spring Semester Student Teaching - Application DUE October 1

For more information, see your credential subject area advisor or contact the Teacher Preparation Advising Center in EED 67 [562] 985-1105.

Complete all paperwork and the requisite number of copies. Keep a copy of everything for your own records. Make an extra copy of your personal statement and your transcripts to give to Kathleen Keirn when you meet with her during her office hours to sign up for student teaching and secure her signature. She will not sign the application without these documents. If you are demonstrating subject matter competency via an exam or completion of an approved subject matter program at another university, you must bring two copies of exam scores or the letter from the university.

All applications must be turned in by March 1 for summer and fall student teaching and by October 1 for spring student teaching. Candidates must secure Professor Keirn's signature and submit their completed application to the Teacher Preparation Advising Center by these dates. Students who have applied to student teach in the past but have withdrawn their applications for one reason or another are also held to these firm deadlines. No exceptions will be made.
