Promote Equity, Teach Peace: Educational Leadership Doctoral Candidate, Dennis Johnson

College of Education doctoral candidate Dennis Johnson has a long list of accolades to his name. A founder of the Black Youth Project, member of The Peace Exchange Chicago-Asia, panelist for the U.S. Congressional Black Caucus and U.S. Department of Educational Commemoration of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Johnson has appeared on multiple TV news programs and radio shows on MSNBC and Fox News. A scholarship recipient in the College of Education and Linked Learning research fellow, upon graduation Johnson aims to utilize his doctoral degree on the national and international stage by working for the U.S. Department of Education to enforce civil rights laws. His ultimate goal is to lead an international foundation. “…I know CSULB’s Educational Leadership program will provide me with the resources, knowledge, skills…to further develop my ability to increase the graduation rates, college access and school competency for African American students.” When asked why he applied to CED’s Educational Leadership program, Johnson replied, “CSULB’s Ed.D. Educational Leadership program has been at the forefront of a commitment to both the production of high quality, rigorous academic research as well as the development of social change oriented practitioners.”
