Get to Know Your CED Support: Outreach & Recruitment Office

Published December 4, 2019

“I enjoy talking to students and parents and learning about their experiences, hopes, and dreams. I find great joy seeing students having hope and vision for their future as an educator.” Wendy Muzien, Coordinator in the College of Education’s Outreach and Recruitment Office, joined the College earlier this year, having worked in outreach at El Camino College and also as an immigration consultant at an area organization. The opportunity to help students and their parents navigate the college experience led Wendy to choose a career in higher education. “Through having a career in higher education, I have the opportunity to work with students in all levels of their academic career.”

Currently, Wendy serves as a liaison between prospective students, educational institutions, and the College of Education. Overseen by Associate Dean Dr. Rebecca Bustamante, these partnerships create a pipeline for prospective students to enter a career in education, beginning first with a degree or credential. Among many other duties, Wendy helps to maintain those critical relationships. Aided by the College’s Student Ambassadors (SAMs), Wendy coordinates visits to community colleges and high schools to share information about the College’s degree and credential programs, and also talks to prospective students about the need for great teachers, and other career paths under the larger umbrella of education.

A proud CSULB alum, Wendy earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degree from the university, with her graduate degree in Educational Psychology from the College of Education.
