Alumna Lorena Camargo Gonzalez has received the CSU Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program Scholarship (CDIP), and will return to the College of Education as a CDIP Scholar under the mentorship of Dr. Lindsay Perez Huber.

As a CDIP Scholar, Camargo Gonzalez (SCAE ’17) will work with Dr. Perez Huber to grow in her research and teaching experience to better prepare her as a CSU faculty candidate in the future. The CDIP provides comprehensive support to outstanding students who have expressed an interest in teaching at a CSU campus. Camargo Gonzalez aims to learn more about Dr. Perez Huber’s approaches to both mentorship and critical perspectives pedagogy.

After completing her doctoral degree, Camargo Gonzalez hopes to each at a CSU, and is particularly interested in engaging with students of similar backgrounds to her own. “As research continues to show, representation matters and having a diverse faculty body matters to the socialization of students at four-year institutions. Programs like the Sally Casanova Pre Doctoral [Scholars Program] and CSU Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive Program are essential and needed to better prepare aspiring faculty like myself into becoming prominent candidates for a tenure track position at a CSU,” shared Camargo Gonzalez.
