You are already proficient in technical areas such as programming and database with a typical majors like Computer Science. The advantage of you to take an IS minor is for the business and project management knowledge.

Expertise in your major area like Healthcare Administration, Science, or Liberal Arts. Seeking a Minor in Information Systems will add to your technical savvy which is highly desirable by all employers today! 

Marketing

This option establishes that marketing is largely a social process, emphasizing that enterprises meet the needs of individuals or segments of society. The function of marketing is to determine those needs, provide the most effective means of informing actual and potential customers of the availability of services and goods, and deliver such services and goods.

International Business

This minor designed to provide students with international business skills and cultural knowledge, which can be an advantage for job seeking and career building, as well as a source of personal enrichment.  This minor requires 18 units.

  • For Non-Business students only, CBA students are not eligible. (NOTE: IS 301, which is required for all 400-level courses in COB, is waived for minors.)

How To Apply to the Minor Program at COB

 

Step 1. Review the Official Requirements Policy

  • A minor consists of a minimum of 15 units
  • least nine units must be upper-division
  • 3.0 or higher overall GPA
  • 3.0 or higher major GPA
  • Non-COB declared Majors only
  • Must be enrolled in a CSULB Major
  • Must complete Minor before Major Graduation

  • Minor Request Form (student login required)
  • If this is International Business then have a (Mandatory) meeting with the advisor
  • Receive Approval

Step 4. Meet with the Minor Advisor

  • Optionally meet with the correct Minor Advisor listed if you want help planning courses.
  • This Meeting is required before approval for International Business
