Career Development Course

In the spring and summer semesters the accelerated MSSCM students participate in a pass/no pass Career Development Course.  The course is designed to educate students about various aspects of the career development process including skill assessment, career planning, resume and cover letter development, networking strategies, job fair preparation and more.  Students complete assignments that are essential to building their professional profile including developing a Graduate level resume and cover letter, conducting an informational interview, attending career fairs, participating in a mock interview and more. During the course, recruiters co-facilitate a particular topic to provide a diverse perspective as well as serves as a networking opportunity for the students.  Additionally, there is a class site visit during the spring semester to expose students to different industries and corporate culture.

During the summer Career Development Course students are learning concepts that will impact them while they are completing their internship.  Topics include learning about career readiness, growth mindset, working with different generations in the workplace and more.

The spring Career Development Course meets in person and the summer course meets online while students are completing their internships.
