Description of Boundaries:

The site is located on the Pacific Coast Highway extending from the Terminal Island Freeway (Rt. 47) on the west to Cota Avenue (near Santa Fe) on the east.

The site extends from Pacific Coast Highway on the south to 19th Street on the north.

Long Beach Enterprise Zone Programs include:

  • Sale & Use Tax Credit
    100% of the 8.25% sales tax or use tax paid on the purchase of new qualifying machinery or parts used in the Enterprise Zone can be claimed as a tax credit.

  • Manufacturer's Investment Tax Credit (MITC)
    A 6% tax credit based upon the acquisition cost of new qualifying manufacturing equipment used in the Enterprise Zone may be claimed by an Enterprise Zone business. For businesses located with the Enterprise Zone, the 6% MITC may be combined with the Enterprise Zone's 8.25% sales and use tax credit on most of the same machinery. This will allow the manufacturer to receive, a total State tax credit of 14.25% of the purchase price of qualified machinery. The eligibility to acquire State tax credits through the MITC Program expires January 1, 2001.

  • Hiring Tax Credit
    Businesses located in the Enterprise Zone may reduce their state income tax by up to half the amount of the wages paid to one or more employees hired after January 1992, who have participated in or are eligible for job training and/or employment assistance programs. Business may earn credits of over $26,500 per employee over a 5-year period.

  • Business Expense Deduction
    A portion of the cost of furniture and fixtures purchased for exclusive use in the Enterprise Zone may be deducted as a business expense in the first year placed in services.

  • Net Operating Loss Carryover
    Businesses in the Enterprise Zone may deduct from their state taxable income 100% of any net operating losses incurred in unprofitable years for the period that the Zone is in existence.

  • Net Interest Deduction for Lenders
    Lenders can claim deductions on the amount of net interest earned on loans made to a trade or business solely located in the Enterprise Zone.

The City of Long Beach offers several programs that provide Tenants at the CSULB Technology Park valuable credits.

Long Beach Enterprise Zone

The Long Beach Enterprise Zone encompasses over 26 square miles. No matter how big or small the business, Tenants at the CSULB Technology Park will benefit from the tax credits provided by locating within the Enterprise Zone.

Other tax incentives available to businesses within the Enterprise Zone include Sales and Use Tax Credits, Hiring Credit, Business Expense Deduction, Net Operating Loss Carryover and Net Interest Deduction for Lenders.

Recycling Market Development Zone

The City of Long Beach aggressively markets loan programs to assist recycling manufacturing business in the Recycling Market Development Zone and to create new jobs for our local community. These programs include:
