NCLR Genome Project

In collaboration with NCLR’s Institute for Hispanic Health (NCLR/IHH), the National Institutes of Health’s National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), and Office of Rare Diseases (ORD), the Genome Project has established a one-year partnership to develop effective ways to reach Latino communities with information about genetics and rare diseases.  The objectives of the project are to increase awareness among Latinos of the importance of genetics information and implications for their health and their families’ health; to improve Hispanics’ understanding about genetic and rare diseases; and to promote Latino community participation in health care policies, improve the quality of, and access to, health care for genetically-related diseases.
