Voces de Fe y Cultura
Voces de Fe y Cultura was conducted in collaboration with The Wall/Las Memorias Project and was funded by the University wide AIDS Research Project. This project used innovative ethnographic approaches to deepen the understanding of how religion and religious institutional contexts, coupled with Latino cultural and sexual norms, influence individual attitudes, beliefs, intentions, and behaviors related to HIV risk reduction and prevention. This unique ground-breaking work incorporated sensitivity to religious context, and aspects of health, well-being, and “familismo,” which are integral to Latino culture and identity. This project enabled the formation of a community faith-based model to facilitate Christian-based denominations in HIV prevention and outreach efforts.
