replicates the user environment
The user testing lab replicates the user environment
- User works alone
- A facilitator and observers sit behind a one-way mirror
- Participant reactions, comments, and activities on the computer are recorded
Notes:
- The user works alone at a workstation
- Facilitator and observers: relay tasks to participants and ask questions (over intercom), and monitor participant progress on tasks.
- Participant reactions, comments and activities on the computer (as they carry out tasks) are recorded for later analysis
- Video equipment and a computer screen converter are used
- Such a setting is used so that participants in the usability evaluations will have an experience closer to what they would have working alone on the system being tested
