Computer training for MCSE Core and Windows 95/98, Office 97

State funded computer training program at ‘no cost’ to company is available for employees from businesses if the company is:

  • a manufacturing firm
  • a software developer
  • evolving to become a high-performance workplace
  • in danger of displacing workers
  • diversifying its products or services
  • facing "out-of-state" competition

What is ETP?

ETP is a California State agency created in 1982 as a cooperative business-labor program to retrain workers. ETP funds training for new and existing employees in order for businesses to obtain the skilled workers they need to stay competitive, productive and profitable.

Results from retraining

ETP funded training is focused on increased job retention and creation. The results of this focus are as follows:

  • California economy develops further job retention, creation and/or retention of high wage and high skilled jobs threatened by out-of-state competition.
  • California businesses become more competitive through increases in worker productivity and quality standards.
  • California workers experience a higher level of job security.

Eligibility for employee participation

Eligible employees must have been working at least 90 of the previous180 days in a full-time position (35 hours or more) prior to start of training program. The employees must have an hourly wage of at least $9.28 (Los Angeles and Orange Counties) by the end of training. The employees also need to meet the following criteria:

  • in need of retraining or upgrading their skills
  • covered by the Unemployment Insurance System
  • in a firm that is becoming a high-performance or diversified workforce.
