



Lee Kochems, Associate Director, serves as project manager for CBRS’ HIV prevention programs providing services to the local community, including Gay Respect and the methamphetamine prevention demonstration grant. He also shares management responsibility with Dr. Reynolds for the Interventions for HIV Positive and HIV Negative drug users (aka Counseling and Food Program) contract. Mr. Kochems serves as a member of the Los Angeles County Commission on HIV, a member of the Prevention Planning Committee of the Office of AIDS Programs and Policy, and is also an instructor at the Departments of Anthropology and Human Services, Long Beach Community College. Mr. Kochems has been at CBRS since 2002. Prior to which he worked as a senior research anthropologist for the National Development and Research Institutes, the Department of Medicine and Chemical Dependency Institute, Beth Israel Medical Center, the New York City Department of Mental Health, and as Director of Research at Gay Men's Health Crisis, Inc. Mr. Kochems holds a Bachelor’s degree from Case Western Reserve University in Anthropology, English and Theatre; and a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Case Western Reserve University. Mr. Kochems is a doctoral candidate in Anthropology from the University of Chicago.
