Apply for BUILD Research Stimulation Grants by Nov. 14, 2016

The Collaborative Research Stimulation Grant (CRSG), funded through BUILD, provides support to develop research collaborations between CSULB faculty and well-established, successful researchers (e.g., with NIH R01 or similar-level funding) at a research intensive university (e.g., UCI, USC, UCLA).  We anticipate being able to fund 1-2 proposals of up to $40,000 for the 2017-2018 academic year to support for a one-year long health-related research pilot project. Awardees will be required to submit a competitive research grant proposal [must be ≥$300K in total cost (direct and indirect) for a period of ≥3 years], based on the collaboration.  Furthermore, BUILD student participation and training need to be clearly integrated into the research plan.  This proposal must be submitted within 1 year of the award announcement. Please note that funds for this CRSG award must be spent within the period of July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2018.  Allowable funding includes release time at full rate, consultant costs, participant incentives, equipment and supplies, and travel relevant to data collection.  Applications Due: Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, by 5 pm PT.  The full RFP will be posted on the BUILD website by Sept. 9, 2016.

The Mid-Size Equipment Program, funded through BUILD, provides the opportunity for BUILD faculty mentors to acquire equipment valued at less than $25,000 (with a $5,000 minimum) that is justified on the basis of direct benefit to the BUILD student training.  Awards up to $24,999 will provide support for the purchase of midsize equipment (equipment costing between $5,000 and $25,000; awards cannot be combined as part of the purchase of large equipment). BUILD student participation and training need to be clearly integrated into the research plan for use of the equipment.  We anticipate being able to fund 1-2 proposals for this program.  Funds for this Mid-Size Equipment Program must be spent before May 30, 2017.
