BeachBoard 2018 FAQs

Please note, for service requests during the week of December 23, 2017 through January 1, 2018: Students enrolled in classes for Winter 2018 can request assistance by emailing helpdesk@csulb.edu or leaving a voicemail message on 562.985.4959. Those accounts will be monitored remotely and ITS will respond to inquiries within 4 hours between the hours of 8:00am – 8:00pm, Mon – Fri.  Inquiries left after 8:00pm will be responded to the following business day.

Session 1: Wednesday, December 20, 2017 through Friday, January 19, 2018.

You will be among the first to experience this new version BeachBoard. The upgrade is scheduled after the 2nd week of the session, on January 1, 2018. We recommend that you review the BeachBoard preview environment so that you are comfortable with the upgrade.

The upgrade will not affect the way BeachBoard functions, but it will look slightly different. We recommend that you visit the BeachBoard 2018 preview site where you can now view a copy of your own course(s) and become familiar with the new interface. Please review your course(s) on this preview site as soon as possible to prepare for the transition. If you have any questions or concerns, make an appointment with an Instructional Designer at ATS or email us at beachboard@csulb.edu.

We are raising awareness among students about this update through various means. However, students may not read announcements or be exposed to the media outlets we are using. As a suggestion, faculty may want to include a note on their syllabi to alert students of the change. The text below is provided for this purpose; feel free to copy and paste or edit as needed to include on your materials:

On January 1, 2018, the BeachBoard system will undergo a software update. The new version will look slightly different, but will basically function the same. After January 1, it's recommended that you spend some additional time getting familiar with the new version before your next assignment is due.

If you encounter any problems or have any questions about BeachBoard, contact the Technology Help Desk at 562.985.4959 or beachboard@csulb.edu
