Troubleshooting BeachApps

 

I can't log in to BeachApps

If you receive the error message “Incorrect user ID or Password" when you attempt to log in to BeachApps then the Campus ID and/or password you typed in is incorrect. Log in to BeachApps using your Campus ID and password.

If you are confident you are typing in the correct Campus ID and password and are still not able to log in, or if you are getting a different error message, please contact the Technology Help Desk at x54959 or helpdesk@csulb.edu for assistance.

When I click on a BeachApps app to launch it, I am getting a message that says "Do you want to open or save this file..."

Click on Open. If nothing happens, see the answer to the question "When I click on a BeachApps app to launch it, nothing happens."

First, check and see if Citrix Receiver is installed correctly on your computer:

  • If Citrix Receiver is installed correctly on a Windows computer, you will see its icon in your system tray. If you do not see the Citrix Receiver icon in your system tray, refer to the BeachApps Windows User Guide for instructions on downloading and installing Citrix Receiver for Windows.

  • If Citrix Receiver in installed correctly on a Mac, you will see its icon in your Launchpad. If you do not see the Citrix Receiver icon in your Launchpad, refer to the BeachApps Mac User Guide for instructions on downloading and installing Citrix Receiver for Mac.

If Citrix Receiver is installed correctly, your web browser may be blocking the Citrix Receiver web plug in. To check your browser plug in settings:

Internet Explorer

  1. Click on Settings > Manage add-ons.
  2. Click on Toolbars and Extensions.
  3. Find the extension called Citrix ICA Client:

  4. If the Status of the Citrix ICA Client is set to Disabled, left click on it and then click on Enable.

Firefox

  1. Click on Settings > Add-ons > Plugins.
  2. Find the Citrix ICA Client:

  3. If the plug-in is disabled, click on drop down box and select Always Activate.

Safari for Windows

  1. Click on Settings > Preferences.
  2. Click on Security:

  3. If the "Enable plug-ins" box is not checked, click on it to place a check mark in that box.

Safari for Mac

  1. Click on Safari > Preferences.
  2. Click on Security:

  3. If the "Allow Plug-Ins" box is not checked, click on it to palce a check mark in that box.

When I am using BeachApps app I am unable to copy and paste from a BeachApps app to an app on my computer 

Copying, cutting, and pasting between a BeachApps app and an app running on your computer will not work if you do not complete the installation of Citrix Receiver before you start using the BeachApps.

  • If Citrix Receiver is installed correctly on a Windows computer, you will see its icon in your system tray. If you do not see the Citrix Receiver icon in your system tray, refer to the BeachApps Windows User Guide for instructions on downloading and installing Citrix Receiver for Windows.

When I am using a BeachApps app I am unable to open or save files on my computer

BeachApps apps cannot open or save files on your computer if you do not complete the installation of Citrix Receiver before you start using BeachApps, or if you do not allow Citrix Receiver to have access to your local computer.

First, check and see if Citrix Receiver is installed correctly on your computer. 

  • If Citrix Receiver is installed correctly on a Windows computer, you will see its icon in your system tray. If you do not see the Citrix Receiver icon in your system tray, refer to the BeachApps Windows User Guide for instructions on downloading and installing Citrix Receiver for Windows.

  • If Citrix Receiver in installed correctly on a Mac, you will see its icon in your Launchpad. If you do not see the Citrix Receiver icon in your Launchpad, refer to the BeachApps Mac User Guide for instructions on downloading and installing Citrix Receiver for Mac.

If Citrix Receiver is installed correctly, you may not have allowed Citrix Receiver to have access to your local computer when you launched the BeachApps app. To fix the issue:
  1. If you have made changes or revisions to your work, save your changes to your BeachApps temporary storage.
  2. Close the BeachApps app by selecting File > Exit.
  3. Launch the BeachApps app you were using again.
  4. After you launch a BeachApps application, a security warning dialog box should display. When it does, click on Permit all access (Windows) or Read & Write (Mac) so that you can open files on your desktop or laptop computer:
