On December 1, 2007, President F. King Alexander, ASI President Mark Andrews, and The Beach on 2nd Street store manager, Kristin Bonetati broke out the big scissors for the ribbon cutting Grand Opening of the first off-campus retail location for the Forty-Niner Shops, Inc. in Belmont Shore—The Beach on 2nd Street. Shops CEO/GM Don Penrod shares, “The neighbors on 2nd Street nicknamed us ‘The Miracle on 2nd Street’ because we negotiated a lease…and opened for business in 30 days in order to make [the opening in time for] the Christmas Parade.” The paperwork may have been completed 30 days prior to the opening, but Bonetati’s staff only had seven days to set-up the store after final renovations had been made before the December 1st opening. Exactly five years later, Kristin Bonetati and her 2nd Street team celebrated this wonderful anniversary milestone with a storewide celebration. Members of the Belmont Shore community, CSULB administration, and the LBSU Cheer Squad joined Shops staff and student employees on December 1, 2012 to celebrate the store’s 5th Anniversary with delicious treats and a champagne toast (courtesy of Beach Catering). Remarks and stories were shared by President Alexander, Dr. Doug Robinson (49er Shops Board Chair and CSULB VP of Student Services), Bonetati, and other special guests to commemorate this special event.
Congratulations, Kristin, 2nd Street team, and the 49er Shops for five years in the wonderful Belmont Shore community!
