ATS Strengthens Training Options for Faculty
Academic Technology Services (ATS) has reviewed the data and feedback from the Departmental Incentive Program, BeachBoard Focus Groups, and BeachBoard focused surveys conducted over the spring semester. The initial results indicate a clear desire and need for expanded training opportunities. Academic Technology Services would like to thank the faculty from over twenty departments and programs who participated.
To support this need, ATS is creating a position known as “Training Lead” and appointing Rica Young to the role. Rica will create, design, coordinate, and promote a variety of in person and online training options related to technologies and practices of teaching and learning. She will supervise our in person drop in support, ensure high quality resources, and conduct an ongoing needs assessment to refine offerings to best meet campus needs. The ATS training offerings will include short focused sessions on a variety of topics as well as more comprehensive courses themed to meet various needs identified by faculty. Lastly, the Training Lead will curate external training resources to respect faculty time.
In addition to the new Training Lead, a new ATS training room will open this fall in AS120. As peer learning communities and other training related initiatives come online, the Training Lead will expand communication through this newsletter, our revised website, and other media channels to ensure you can find the training resources you’re looking for. More resources will come online this fall as we prepare for BeachBoard 2018.
