Welcoming Students Back

Published January 25, 2016

It’s that time of the semester again.

Week of Welcome, a two-day fair that focuses on introducing California State University, Long Beach students to clubs, organizations and university resources, is coming back next week.

During the event, the participants – clubs, organizations, and university resources – will have tables and provide information to students who are interested in learning more about them. Previous participants include, but not limited to, fraternities and sororities, organizations geared to specific majors, and recreational clubs.

Freshman civil engineering major Jayson Mejia said that while Week of Welcome was “packed” last semester, he still had a good time.

“Overall, it was pretty fun.” Mejia said. “Everyone was social and interactive.”

Associated Students Inc., a nonprofit membership association and auxiliary organization of the university, hosts the fair during the beginning of every semester.

“We have almost 300 organizations and campus resources that table to promote student involvement,” said Sabrina Ware, ASI chief programming officer.

The fair is taking place at the central quad – near the Peterson Hall 1 building – on Jan. 27 and 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
