A maze of tents, food trucks and a host of student-center organizations will be on campus Wednesday and Thursday for Cal State Long Beach’s annual Week of Welcome, which will be held in the Quad.

Over the two days, students will be able to sign up for various clubs, such as recreation sports, the Salsa Club, Gaming Club or various cultural organizations and learn about campus departments and resources. Joining one of the more than clubs and community organizations can be a way for students to engage with others.

Students also will have an opportunity to get a Smorgasport fast pass. Visit asicsulb.org/events for more information.

Smorgasport, with its thrilling rides, inflatable games, food trucks and unfettered fun, caps Week of Welcome.

The annual carnival kicks off Friday in Parking Lot 3, located in front of the University Student Union. An estimated 5,000 students took part in last year’s festival that runs from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Smorgasport was started 16 years ago as an entertaining back-to-school night that also serves as a meet-and-greet for the school’s nearly 37,000 students.

Activities are free with a student ID, but bring your wallets if you intended to eat. The food trucks will be charging for their fare.
