My name is Ilana Tel-Oren and this is my Beach Experience…
My Beach Experience is about pursuing my interests and challenging myself while meeting new people and making connections. Cal State Long Beach has allowed me the flexibility to pursue all my career path interests while still allowing me to stay on track to graduate. I'm truly thankful for all the people I've met on my journey, both in the classroom and at my campus job.
I came to Cal State Long Beach straight from an Arts High School in the Los Angeles area. I was drawn to the University because of the music department's stellar reputation among the Cal States as well as it's affordability and location. After my audition, I was told by the music department that I had been accepted into the program, so my college search pretty much ended there.
I've been involved with various music organizations on campus, including the Bob Cole Conservatory Symphonic Band and the Symphony Orchestra and participated in tours to Fresno and Reno for Band competitions. I've also been working on campus at the Cal State Long Beach Beach Fund for over three years now, and am currently the Senior Supervisor there. My job has allowed me various opportunities to volunteer at Alumni events and has also given me the opportunity to meet hundreds of new and continuing students each month as well.
After graduation, my basic plan is to stay in the Los Angeles area and work full time or intern for a non-profit organization, or marketing firm. However, I'm definitely open to work full time anywhere that will give me business administration experience as well. My goal is to learn about business operations and eventually run my own business that will tie together my avid appreciation for coffee, music, and art, that will also provide a niche for local artists, event enthusiasts, and the those with specific diets such as vegetarians, vegans, as well as the health conscious.
