My time at Long Beach State was more then I could ask for. It has been one of the best experiences in my life, and I’m glad to have made Long Beach my choice of education. I have stayed involved with ASI since my freshman year, where it all started on a bus trip to UCSB to watch the women’s volleyball team. Since I lived close to campus, I didn’t want to just go to class and go home. Thus, I made the most of my time on campus, and joined clubs, played sports, and went to sport events. The most important thing to me would be staying on campus meeting new people and participating in new activities. People who commute to campus and then just go home, are not experiencing college.
I graduated high school with a 4.0GPA, top 10 in my class, and had lots of options opened for me. I was accepted and leaning towards UCSB, Cal State Monterey Bay, UCSD, or Long Beach State. But something about Long Beach stuck out to me when I visited the campus, and I just felt like with the Beach right down the street, and great programs offered to me, I wanted to go to CSULB.
CSULB has definitely changed my life and how I look at things. Being a part of ASI, I really learned more about being a leader, and how to take control of my life. When I began working at Program Council, I felt like my co-workers were like a second family to me, and were always there whenever we needed one another. Having a strong support system and good friends will make the difference in college.
Well like my fellow seniors, looking for a job is the first thing. My dad works with Fiji Water, and has introduced me to many of the members of the marketing team there, and I would enjoy working with them if possible. If not, I have been in process of talking with Quiksilver and Rockstar Energy Drink’s marketing teams. My goal is one day work marketing with a professional sports team, or some movie studio. I plan on staying connected with Long Beach just because I live so close and can. I’ll stay in contact with all my co-workers at Program Council, and other employees in the USU. Also, since my sister, Nicole, plays for the women’s soccer team, I’ll be coming back to watch her games. I plan on joining the Alumni Association because it gives me an opportunity to give back to the campus that gave me so much, as well as, stay connected with my old friends and professors.
