Each year a number of lectures are given on campus by various members of the faculty and special guests. This year's special guests included Dr. S.I. Hayakawa, Margaret Mead, and Gerald Heard.
The Long Beach Arena opens in 1962 and often hosts the 49er basketball team and its rivals. Since opening it has hosted a various entertainment, professional and college sporting events.
