In fall semester, the very first "Frosh Day" was attempted by the Associated Students to produce an orientation program for new incoming students. Over 225 freshmen attended the day-long event. This was the opportunity for new students to get familiar and ask questions regarding academic standards, campus activities, and student government.
Wrestling made its debut at Long Beach State College, coached by Warren Boring.
The Activities Office finally had moved into the new Administration Building and for the first time all student activities were up on the hill.
Volleyball, basketball, tennis, and field hockey formed during the '57-'58 academic year led by Dr. Dorothy Fornia.
The construction of a second Fine Arts building, a men's physical education unit, and a swimming pool were completed.
