For the second fall semester, enrollment increased to 971 students.
A Graduate Program is introduced into the California State Colleges by legislative authority. At LBSC, the Master of Arts degree is specifically designed for those in or about to enter into the teaching profession.
Classes continued on the temporary campus while plans were completed to place enough emergency buildings to accommodate 2,200 students for the college's new home site.

The Alumni Association was founded to sponsor and coordinate activities of interest to the graduates of the college. Eugene Amsberry served as the first president.
1951 First Men's Basketball Team with Coach Herman Schwartzkopf.
Men's Basketball was the first sport to debut on campus. Later in the year the first golf team formed.
Eleven candidates were the first to receive their Master of Arts degree from LBSC.
Construction began on the permanent campus while temporary buildings were also being placed to accommodate students for the fall semester.
