Marjorie Chitwood-Burri

In 1984 Mt. San Antonio Community College was honored by the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office as the Outstanding Home Economics Department in the state. This was the first time an entire department was awarded this honor.

The coordinator of the department was Marjorie, a position she has held since 1978. On the Mt. SAC campus Marjorie is highly regarded as an excellent administrator who is also a caring and responsive person, serving as a role model for others. In addition to her other achievements, she established the Child Development Center on the campus to provide child care for student who otherwise could not attend college.

This center now cares for over 250 children of student and faculty members each semester. Marjorie is well known throughout the state for her leadership roles in a wide variety of home economics and vocational education organizations.
