Policy Statement

"It is the policy of the CSU to make information technology resources and services accessible to all CSU students, faculty, staff and the general public regardless of disability”. – EO 926

The CSU Accessible Technology Initiative was effective January 1, 2005 with the commitment to support CSU campuses under the Executive Order 926 policy statement on accessibility. In accordance with the policy, California State University, Long Beach is committed to providing equal access of information to all and deliver accessibility support to people with disabilities across websites and Information technologies.

As a public university California State University, Long Beach is required and dedicated to adhere to policy standards established to ensure compliance of local, state, federal regulation laws and guidelines of Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

In accordance with federal and state laws, California State University Long Beach, including all colleges, schools, departments and university programs are responsible for complying with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the WCAG 2.0 guidelines. Implementing these guidelines and policies enforced by federal and state laws will ensure that all individuals including those with disabilities can access campus wide information equally and retrieve web based information.

Reason for Policy

The purpose of implementing this policy is to deliver processes by which university administrators, faculty, and staff will apply in the approach of creating, retrieving, and managing all electronic information technology that ensures accessibility to the campus. This policy establishes accessibility standards that meet the compliance of local, state, and federal regulations and laws.  

Contacts

The Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) Steering Committee and Subcommittees continue to meet and develop policies, procedures and practices that are structured around accessibility. The purpose of the ATI Steering committee is to put in place processes and procedures that faculty, staff, and administrators have to abide by.
