Managing Dropbox Submissions

Restrict the Number of Files Allowed per Submission

  1. Click Dropbox from the Navigation Bar.
  2. Click the arrow next to the Dropbox folder you want to restrict and click Edit Folder
  3. Scroll down to Submission Options Category and click Show Submission Options link.
  4. Choose Unlimited or One file per submission and click Save and Close.

Note: The upload maximum file size for students is 20480KB or 20MB per submission.

Change How Subsequent File Submissions are Handled

  1. Click Dropbox from the Navigation Bar.
  2. Click the arrow next to the Dropbox folder you want to restrict and click Edit Folder
  3. Scroll down to Submission Options Category and click Show Submission Options link
  4. Choose one of the three Submissions options and click Save and Close.

Note: The upload maximum file size for students is 20480KB or 20MB per submission.

Download Files

  1. Click Dropbox from the Navigation Bar and click the Dropbox folder that you want to download
  2. On the Users tab, select the students or groups you want to download assignments for. Click the Download link at the top or bottom of the list. You may also click the Files tab and select the files you want to download. Click the Download link at the top or bottom of the list

  3. Click the name of the zipped file that was created
  4. Use your browser’s save dialog box to save the file to the appropriate location.

Note: Files are renamed to include the student or groups name and submission time when you download them. Downloading assignments changes their status to read.

Email Students from Dropbox

  1. Click Dropbox from the Navigation Bar and click a Dropbox folder
  2. Check the box next to the student or group's name and click the Email link
  3. Type a subject and message in the Compose New Message box and click Send.

Email Students Who Have Not Submitted an Assignment to the Dropbox Folder

  1. Click Dropbox from the Navigation Bar and click a Dropbox folder.
  2. Click the Email Users Without Submissions tab.

  3. Type a subject and message in the Compose New Message box and click Send

Note: If any member of a group submits an assignment to a group dropbox folder, no one in that group is emailed when Email Unsubmitted Groups is selected.

Mark Assignments as Read or Unread

Do one of the following:

  1. From the Folder Submissions page, click the Read or Unread icon beside the name of the file you want to mark.
  2. Select the files you want to mark as read or unread, and click the Display submissions for selected users as unread or Email Read icon Display submissions for selected users as read icons at the top or bottom of the list.

Note: When you open or download a file Dropbox marks it as read.

Flag Dropbox Assignments

  1. Click the Flagged or Unflagged icon beside an item's name on the Folder Submissions page.

Note: You can use the Files tab to search for flagged submissions.

Restore Deleted Dropbox Submissions

  1. Go to your course and click on the Dropbox icon in the navigation bar. 
  2. Click on the Assignment Folder where you wish to restore deleted dropbox.
  3. In the Folder Submissions window, click on Submission Log button.
  4. In the Submission Log, you will see the deleted Assignment along with a Restore button. Click the Restore button
  5. The assignment will be restored back to its designated folder for grading.
