Content Tool - Managing Modules and Topics

Searching for a Module or Topic

You can search within the course for modules and topics by their title or short title, however you cannot search for text within the body of a topic.

  1. Click Content on the navigation bar

  2. Type your search term in the Search Topics text box located in the top left
  3. Press enter or click on the Search icon.

  4. After performing a search, click on the X in the search bar to clear the search or click Clear Search under Search ResultsSearch Results

Editing a Module

  1. Click on the module you want to edit from the Table of Contents panel on the left.
  2. Click on the title name to edit the title.
  3. To hide this module change the status to Draft. Change topic status by clicking the arrow next to Draft or Published (e.g. from Draft to Published).
  4. Click Add dates and restrictions... to add restriction dates and release conditions (see D2L’s official support pages for details on release conditions).
  5. Click Add a description… to enter a description of the module.

  1. Edit the topic’s properties, restrictions, discussions, or comments by clicking the arrow icon beside the topic name and clicking the Edit Properties in Place link.
  2. Click on the title name to change.
  3. To hide this module change the status to Draft. Change topic status by clicking the arrow next to Draft or Published (e.g. from Draft to Published).
  4. Click Add dates and restrictions... to add restriction dates and release conditions (see D2L’s official support pages for details on release conditions).
  5. Click Add a description… to give your topic a description.

Reordering/Moving a Module or Topic

You can move modules under the Table of Contents pane by clicking and holding to the left of each module and dragging it to your desired position. Use the same method for moving topics within a module or moving topics from within a module into another module under the Table of Contents.

Deleting a Module or Topic

Note: Deleting a module deletes all topics within that module.

  1. Click on the module or click on the module in which the topic you want to delete resides in from the Table of Contents panel on the left.
  2. Click the arrow to the right of the desired module or topic title, then click Delete Module or Delete Module respectively.
