Benjamin Bowser is Emeritus Professor of Sociology and Social Services at California State University, East Bay. His teaching and research focus on topics such as HIV/AIDS and drug abuse prevention, teaching slavery and the slave trade, race relations, and gangster rap. His latest book is The Abandoned Mission in Public Higher Education: The Case of the California State University (Routledge, 2017).
