    • Drop-in Writing Tutoring Monday-Thursday, from 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. (no appointment necessary)
  • Conversation Lab (Cancelled Until Further Notice) where students can drop-in and talk with a conversation volunteer to improve their pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency/confidence, and familiarity with American idioms and culture.

Individual Tutoring

Free for CSULB-enrolled students*

If you would like to work with a tutor for several weeks or even the entire semester, you can! You can arrange to meet with the same tutor every week at the same time; the tutor can work with you on any aspect of writing, including vocabulary, essay structure, grammar, and proofreading strategies that you need for college-level writing. You can also request a tutor to help you as you prepare for the WPE or work on passing a GWAR course. Complete this form to request a tutor, and we will contact you to make arrangements after the semester has begun.

Online tutoring hours are available Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm and Fri 9am-12pm.

Conversation Lab (* Cancelled Until Further Notice)

Free for CSULB-enrolled students*

The Conversation Lab is a great place to practice your English with a native speaker. It is a relaxed, informal, safe place for you to ask questions and practice speaking English. Our friendly volunteers will help you with pronunciation and grammar; talk about virtually any topic with you; and explain American idioms, slang, and culture. The Conversation Lab is especially useful for international students and English learners.

While we have spent the last week working on our online services protocols, please be patient with us as we continue to work out the kinks. Be patient with yourself too; it is not easy to learn a new way to attend classes and access support services in such a short period of time!
