California State University, Long Beach was named one of the nation’s “Best Value” public colleges by the Princeton Review, which teamed up with USA Today to present its list of the 150 (75 public and 75 private) “Best Value Colleges for 2017.”
Among Top 5 Nationally in Freshman Applications
In an article by U.S. News & World Report, CSULB was listed as one of the top five colleges in the nation receiving the most freshman applications out of approximately 1,800 schools that reported data in the publication’s annual survey.
Named to Kiplinger’s Best Values in Public Colleges List
The University was named to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine’s list of the top “100 Best Values in Public Colleges.” Nearly 600 public four-year colleges and universities were considered for the list, which recognizes institutions that combine outstanding education with economic value.
More Than 330,000 ‘Beach’ Alumni
Opening in 1949 with less than 200 students, CSULB has awarded degrees to more than 330,000 graduates.
Designated ‘Best in the West’ by Princeton Review
The Princeton Review designated CSULB a “Best in the West” college in its website feature, “2013 Best Colleges: Region by Region.”

In the most recent listing of the “Top 100 Degree Producers” by Diverse Issues in Higher Education, CSULB is ranked second nationally in conferring baccalaureate degrees to minority students.
Designated a ‘Military Friendly School’
For the sixth csonsecutive year, CSULB was named to the “Military Friendly Schools” list by G.I. Jobs, a publication of Victory Media, the premier media entity for military personnel transitioning into civilian life.

Confirming its status as one of the most diverse campuses in the nation, CSULB is among the top 10 universities nationally in both the number of master’s degrees and the number of bachelor’s degrees awarded to Hispanics.
