CSULB Center for Health Equity Research
  • Health Research Matters
  • Making health equitable
  • Research transforms health
  • Healthy communities through research

The Center for Health Equity Research (CHER) is located in the College of Health and Human Services at California State University, Long Beach. We work with CSULB faculty, faculty from other research institutions, local and federal government partners, and community-based organizations to conduct health equity-related research and to develop and rigorously evaluate innovative interventions to promote health and reduce health disparities.

CHER conducts social and behavioral research and evaluation on health-related issues among diverse, underserved, and high-risk populations.  We aim to identify, measure, and reduce health inequities in Los Angeles County and the surrounding metropolitan area through research on HIV and sexual health, social discrimination, and place-based evaluation. CHER also works to build and promote health equity research by mentoring students and faculty at CSULB.
