Step 1. Review. Ask and answer the following questions in Chinese according the the passage

這是我們中文系。我們中文系有九十八個學生﹐六個中國老師。謝老師教我們口語﹐語法和漢字。我們在這兒學習漢語。我們學校有圖書館和閱覽室。圖書館有中文書﹐中文雜誌﹐中文報和漢語詞典。我們常在圖書館看書﹐學習。

a. Zhōngwén xì yǒu duōshǎo (how many) xuésheng?

b. Zhōngwén xì yǒu jǐ ge (how many) Zhōngguó lǎoshī?

c. Xiè lǎoshī jiāo nǐmen shénme?

d. Nǐmen zài Zhōngwén xì xuéxí shénme?

e. Nǐmen xuéxiào yǒu túshūguǎn hé yuèlǎnshì ma?

f. Túshūguǎn yǒu méiyǒu Zhōngwén shū, Zhōngwén bào? Hànyǔ cídiǎn ne?

g. Nǐmen cháng zài túshūguǎn kàn shū, xuéxí ma?

Step 2 Learn more new words in Lesson 15.

還	hái	in addition, still
不敢當	bù gǎndäng	(I) don't really deserve (it)
互相	hùxiāng	mutually, each other
新	xīn	new
畫報	huàbào	magazine (with photos and pictures)

Notes

還 hái: - 'in addtion to'. 

我 有 一 本 漢語 詞典 ﹐ 還有 很多 中文 書 。

Wǒ yǒu yī běn Hànyǔ cídiǎn, hái yǒu hěn duō Zhōngwén shū.

    I  have a Chinese dictionary. (In addition to that dictionary, I ) also have many Chinese books.

他 學習 法語 ﹐ 還 學習 漢語 和 日語 。

Tā xuéxí Fǎyǔ, hái xuéxí Hànyǔ hé Rìyǔ.   

    He studies French. (In addtiong to French, he) also studies Chinese and Japanese.

Try to say:

He has an elder brother. He has two more younger sisters.

Our department has Chinese teachers. (In addition to Chinese teachers, we) also have Japanese teachers.

不敢當 bù gǎndāng - This is an expression used to respond to a compliment.

互相 hùxiāng - 'mutually, each other' 我們互相學習 We learn from each other.

新 xīn - 'new'

    Try to say:

a new book, a new dictionary, a new teacher, a new doctor, a new school, a new library, a new reading room
