CSULB Psychology Department

Undergraduate Program

As a CSULB psychology major, you have the opportunity to acquire skills which may benefit you personally as well as professionally.  On the personal level, an understanding of learning, motivation and the social behavior of others should increase your interpersonal effectiveness.  In the job market, employers seek applicants with good oral and written communications skills, as well as the analytic and organization skills learned in research methods and statistics.
The Psychology Department attempts to answer students' questions about the major through the services of the Academic Peer Advising Office.  (For questions about general education requirements, please visit the university's Academic Advising Center.)  All students applying to the major will meet with the Peer Advisors during the application and subsequent acceptance process.  Peer Advisors provide information on major course requirements, discuss career possibilities, and answer questions about psychology.
The Academic Peer Advising Office also provides information on graduate schools, the GRE, internship and research opportunities, careers in psychology and related professions, course syllabi, and videos on numerous topics.  Please click on "Peer Advising Main Page" below for additional information.
