Harvey Wichman earned the first Master's Degree awarded by the CSULB Psychology department, and was, until he recently retired, a Professor at Claremont Graduate School and Director of the Aerospace Psychology Lab which studies manned space flight.

Adriana Alcantara is Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Texas and a recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award of the APA Minority Fellowship Program in Neuroscience.  Her work on the basal ganglia has potential value for understanding disorders like Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, Tourette's syndrome, OCD, and drug addiction.

James Alexander received a Master's degree at CSULB and his PhD from Michigan State. Currently a Professor at the University of Utah, he developed a major model of Family Therapy.

Sonia Ancoli-Israel is a research psychologist at the San Diego V.A. and Professor of Psychiatry at UC San Diego.  She is a world authority on sleep disorders and author of All I Want is a Good Night's Sleep.

Victor Benassi received his PhD from City University of New York.  A Professor of Psychology, he is currently an Academic Affairs Faculty Fellow at the University of New Hampshire.

Leann Birch is Head and Chair of the Department of Human Development and Family Studies, Pennsylvania State University, and an authority on children's eating preferences and disorders.

Brenna Chirby received her PsyD from the American School of Professional Psychology in Virginia, and is a licensed Clinical Psychologist.  She is currently serving as the Director of Counseling Services at the Art Institute of Washington.  She is also teaching full time in the doctoral program at Argosy University.

Stephen Edgell earned his PhD in Mathematical Psychology at Indiana University, and is a Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Louisville.

Roger Fouts has seved as a Professor of Psychology at Central Washington University, and is currently serving as their Interim Director of University Research for the Office of Graduate Studies, Research and Continuing Education..  He is a world authority on chimpanzees and directs the Washoe Project study of chimpanzee communication with sign language.  He authored Next of Kin based on this research.

Christine Iijima Hall was Associate Provost at Arizona State University.  She recently became Director of Employee Services for Maricopa Community College District in Phoenix.  She is an authority on ethnic relations, and has been a pioneer researcher on the psychology of people with biracial backgrounds.

Edward Hernandez is an Associate Professor of Management at CSU Stanislaus.  He received his PhD from UC Irvine, and is currently working on research in the areas of Information Technology, Legal Issues in HRM and Temporary and Contract Worker studies.  He is also interested in the business of musicals.

Alyce LaViolette is a recognized authority on battered women and an activist against violence and author of It Can Happen to Anyone: Why Battered Women Stay.  She is also the founder of Alternatives to Violence, located in the city of Long Beach.

David Lechuga is the director of The Neurobehavioral Clinical and Counseling Center located in Mission Viejo, CA.  He earned his PhD at UCLA in Clinical Psychology.  He is the 2002 president of the Orange County Psychological Association, and is a clinical instructor at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute/Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences.

Lola Lopes is currently serving as the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education at the University of Iowa.  She earned her PhD in Cognitive Psychology at the University of California, San Diego.

Jelani Mandara is an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University, and has recently completed his PhD at UC Riverside.  His research interests include family functioning, fathers' involvement and child development; theories of self-control and self-regulation; person-centered methods.

Cynthia S. Rand obtained a CSULB Master's degree, and is a Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University, in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.  She is a health psychologist with the School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, specializing in pulmonary disease, and affiliated with the Global Project on Tobacco Control.

Gloria Romero, Professor of Psychology at California State University, Los Angeles, is a Democrat Assemblywoman in the California legislature, representing District 24 in Los Angeles.

Jim Turner is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies at UCLA.  He received his PhD from University of Missouri, and was a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at UCLA for a number of years with research interests in placebo effects, the everyday lives of mentally retarded adults, and indigenous psychologies.

Heidi Ziemer is an Assistant Professor at the University of Houston-Downtown, and is serving as the Assistant Chair for the Psychology department.  She received her MA and PhD at Rice University.
