Joon-Sung Jun is a new addition to the faculty at California State University, Long Beach. A Cello Professor and Chairperson for Instrumental Studies at Shepherd University, Joon-Sung Jun has varied career as a performer, seminar lecturer, and teacher. Mr. Jun teaches and plays at Kazakhstan International Music Festival, Ahn Dong Music Festival, and California State University of Los Angeles (from Fall 2006). In 2001, he was invited to the Paris Conservatory to do a String Quartet Concert tour in France. He is frequently invited to appear as a soloist with orchestras such as Kazakhstan Philharmonic, Korean National Philharmonic, Symphonieta philharmonic, and the Ahn Dong Symphony of Music Festival.
Joon-Sung has been awarded First and Grand Prizes in several competitions, American String Teachers' Association State Competition, Korean Music Teachers Solo Competition, Pi Iota International Music Fraternity, Mu Phi Epsilon, Ronna Binn Competition, Leni Fe Bland Competition, and Dong-A Cello Competition.
His students have won 1st Prizes in Peninsula Young Artist, PSYO Concerto Competition, and South Coast Symphony National Concerto Competition. Mr. Jun received his masters from USC and is a doctoral candidate at USC.
