Summer 2008: I am very pleased that, despite the University's budget crisis, I will be teaching a course in summer 2008.
PHIL 461I (Diversity in Criticism and Analysis of the Arts) (class #11258) in Summer Session III (July  14-31, 2008), meeting 4 hours a day, Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs, 9:30-1:15.
For information on the most recent offering: http://www.csulb.edu/~jvancamp/461/
Please note that all summer courses are subject to cancellation, due to enrollment and/or fiscal contingencies.

Fall 2008: PHIL 489-01: PHILOSOPHY PRELAW INTERNSHIP (3-6 units)
Volunteer internship with private organization or governmental agency with law-related focus. 50 hours of volunteer service is required for each academic unit. You will also write a mid-term and final report that identifies ethical issues in the workplace and reflects on them using your philosophical coursework.

PRE-REQUISITES: completion of 15 upper-division units for the Philosophy major. Senior standing strongly recommended. Consent of instructor and department chair is required. Arrangements for the internship must be made with the Philosophy Pre-Law Advisor BEFORE the start of classes.

  • If you are interested in the internship program for Fall 2008, please send me an e-mail message this fall at your earliest opportunity to indicate your areas of interest.
  • Los Angeles and Orange Counties have volunteer internship opportunities eligible for this program. Please search their on-line internship listings to see if they have law-related internships of interest to you.
  • You are also welcome to look at the law-related internship opportunities at the CSULB Career Development Center (SS/AD 250).   I must approve these in advance for internship credit in PHIL 489.
