A Philosophical Response. . .
At this time of great national sadness, the philosophers of California State University, Long Beach, share the sorrow of the nation, indeed, of the world, and we extend our sympathies and encouragement to all who are suffering. We also share in the national resolve to overcome this tragedy and work for a legacy of hope and a better future for all.

As philosophers and educators, we believe ever more strongly in the power of reason and dialogue as the best hope for the future of all that is best in our global community. We offer here suggestions for philosophical works that we hope will help you find some measure of understanding and peace.
