Looking on the-left, the Chinese Weeping Willow tree is a representation of the female force which is meant to provide balance among the black pine trees are of male force. By looking at the Weeping Willow, you will notice the branches are reaching down to its root. This is to symbolize learning from the past, searching for stability and tradition or reflection from the past. In contrast, Japanese Black pine needles' represent a reaching out, a look upward to the future and to progress. While walking ahead, notice the magnificent Japanese Black Pine with the three rocks and plantings. Plants on the right side abound the lawn area include:

On the left, the black pebble beach slopes down to the lake. Large light-colored stepping stones enable one to walk down to the Landing Rock (that the emperor and empress would use when getting onto and off of a boat.) To the left side of the pebble beach and underneath the Weeping Willow is a small "Bloodgood" Japanese Maple.
Beyond on magnificent Japanese Black Pine are three dwarf Mock Orange planted in a bed of Mondo grass. Behind them is adrift of Firethon (Pyracantha), and "Formosa" and "Southern Charm" azaleas. |
