First stop: Main Library (Civic Center: Ocean & Pacific). Meet inside, downstairs Auditorium Lobby.

Last Stop: Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, CSULB. Meet in the courtyard for a guided tour.

Join us at the historic Main Library for exclusive access to the Loraine and Earl Burns Miller Special Collections Room. Learn about Long Beach’s famous family through their collection of rare books and presentation a by Alison Redfoot, Assistant Director for Education at the Japanese Garden. Conclude your morning with a tour of the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, Loraine Miller’s loving tribute to her husband Earl, and hub for international education. Refreshments will be served.

Japanese Garden members are welcome to join us for an evening of beauty and pleasure. Stroll through the garden and view an exhibit of Japanese textile art featuring noren, fabric dividers, nestled in amongst the plants and flowers. Listen to soothing music played through our state of the art sound system. Enjoy tea and treats in our newly refurbished Friends Garden Pavilion. Complimentary entrance for members, but please purchase a day parking pass for your vehicle, available in Lot 16 across from the Garden, before entering the event.

Japanese Garden Members are invited to spend a lovely afternoon in Garden. Learn about the history and significance of the Garden on a guided tour by senior staff. Relax in our Friend’s Garden and enjoy delectable sweets and Japanese green tea while you meet new people who share a love of gardens and culture. Want to learn more about the EBM Japanese Garden, Japanese culture, and get involved in your community? Work side-by-side with CSULB students to lead groups through the Garden, inform the public about Garden events and programs, and sell Garden merchandise. Participants will enjoy monthly presentations to expand their knowledge of Japanese culture in our new volunteer series called The Japanese Garden: Where Cultures Meet.
