Emergency

Paramedics • Long Beach Fire Department assists a student who was feeling ill during class in the engineering building, Tuesday. Tracy Roman / Online Forty-Niner

News

  • New dorm plans seek to please residents
With over 35,000 students and room for just under 2,000 of them to live on campus at Cal State Long Beach, Physical Planning and Facilities have begun to develop plans to improve on-campus housing and on-campus life, with a proposal for new dining halls, new dorm buildings and new shops in the residential area.

  • CSU Long Beach students react to abortion law
South Dakota’s law banning almost all abortions received mixed reactions from Cal State Long Beach faculty and students Tuesday, with a majority opposing the law, but with at least one student wishing the law went further.

Opinion

  • Our View: U.S. seeks to deny church help to illegals
OIllegal immigration has been hotly debated for decades. The problem of documenting illegal immigrants and deciding whether they are entitled to any rights has been one of the most prominently, and prolonged, topics discussed in U.S. history.

  • Congress needs new office to maintain ethics
It does not surprise me the public approval rating of Congress has dropped below the 30 percent mark. Aside from the partisan bickering and blatant finger pointing we so often see in Congress, the recent decision to neglect to address an overwhelmingly legitimate issue in the way our government proceeds proves why the public has come to frown upon our legislature so adamantly.

  • Even overrated City of Angels has its moments
I have a kind of love-hate relationship with Los Angeles, and by Los Angeles I mean Greater Los Angeles.

Diversions

  • Sensual male dancers shine at first in series
The most diverse and exhilarating set of dances came together at the Martha B. Knoebel Theatre, Feb. 24. It was made up of an array of fascinating subject matter and was altogether visually stimulating.
