News

  • Lot 11 structure hits halfway mark
The $22 million parking structure being constructed in Lot 11 is progressing as planned with over 50 percent of it finished, and is expected to be fully completed by the first week of September.

The five mayoral candidates for the city of Long Beach came to the Carpenter Performing Arts Center and debated over current and future issues affecting the city and Cal State Long Beach.

Opinion

  • Our View: Controversial cartoon shows need for debate
Freedom of speech is one of the fundamental rights upon which our country bases itself and is the cornerstone of all democratic societies. In order to have fair representative government, all people should have the opportunity to make their beliefs heard.
  • Contradictory statements reveal haphazard Iraq war effort
In response to a Jan. 30 Our View titled “Bush’s defense actually right this time,” I disagree with several of the statements that were made. Much like Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s wardrobe, life does not work in black and white, but in many shades of grey.

Sports

  • Dirtbags conquer Trojans in weekend sweep
The Long Beach State Dirtbags pulled out the broom on USC as the 8-6 come-from-behind victory set the stage for a historic day at Blair Field on Super Bowl Sunday.
