News
- Academic
advisers aid in major selection
Cal
State Long Beach requires
all students declare a
major by the time they
earn 60 units, but many
students come to CSULB
unsure of what they want
to do with their lives.
With 76 different baccalaureate
degrees offered on campus,
the selection process can
be confusing and frustrating.
- Parking
problems promote ingenuity
Parking can be a nightmare
during the first several weeks on campus. Some students might witness frantic
lane changes, experience the monotonous search between endless lanes of cars
or partake in the old-fashioned cat-and-mouse game: following a student to his
or her car and getting the parking spot.
- Center
specializes in student health
care
Student
Health Services (SHS), on the corner
of Beach Street and Merriam Way,
provides medical services, preventive
health and health education programs
for registered students and faculty
members.
- Senate
appoints Ronald for elections
officer
In
a brief special meeting on Jan
11., the Associated Students Senate
unanimously approved a resolution
appointing the government elections
officer for the coming
semester.
- Research
tools abundant at library
Cal
State Long Beach University
Library offers a variety
of services available to
students to help them on-
and off-campus.
Opinion
- Our
View: Study habits necessary
for new semester
Winter
break has come to an end and,
for most of us, the change between
leisurely deciding the agenda
for the day and sticking to a
rigorous, demanding schedule
can be excruciating.
- Pledge
of Allegiance respectful, necessary
Last
month, the American Civil Liberties
Union (ACLU) of Florida filed
suit against a high school
on behalf of a student who
claims he was harassed and
ridiculed
by teachers and administrators for not standing and participating in the Pledge
of Allegiance.
- L.A.
water wars deprive California
valley
Ah,
good old bottled water. Citizens
of Southern California just
guzzle the stuff, almost as
much as they guzzle gas. But
do any of us ever stop to think
where that water comes from?
- Substitute
your 21 shots for 21 hugs,
kisses, spankings
So,
you are turning 21. You’ve
got your big party planned out.
All the friends you have had since
preschool will be present to celebrate
and enjoy the festivities. But
did it ever cross your mind this
could be the last night of your
life?
Diversions
- Readymade
is a guide for the crafty,
wasteless
As
Californians we try to
recycle our cans and bottles
to help fix the environment,
so that we may say we made
a difference. However,
do you ever ask yourself:
Is there more I can do
to avoid waste or recycle
some of my everyday products?
Well look no further, for
the founders of Readymade
magazine have just published
the
book: “Readymade, How to Make (Almost) Everything.”
- Long
Beach area offers various
attractions, experiences
Long
Beach is a city full of
interesting places to go
and see. At first glance
one may just see a regular
California city, with its
many donut shops and gas
stations, but there is
more to Long Beach than
meets the eye.
